Denis grew up in Mt. Prospect, a northwest suburb of Chicago. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010 with a Bachelor’s in French Language and Literature. He spent the next two years working as an English language assistant in a high school in Compiègne, France. From 2012-2014 he served in the Peace Corps in the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu as an English literacy volunteer, working to improve the quality of literacy education in local schools. Since his return to the States, Denis has been involved with the Civic Education Project, a service-learning program for middle and high school students through Northwestern University. He moved into Benton House in September 2015, taking on the role of Garden Coordinator, having discovered a love of working in the earth on several WWOOFing excursions during his years of travel. He is excited to learn more about urban farming and to promote the practice as an important ingredient in the future well-being of humanity.
