Elise Cody

Elise has been invested in the Benton House community for nearly 2 years, officially becoming a resident staff member in August of 2013 after studying biology at DePaul University. Elise coordinates Benton House's weekly food pantry as well as the agency's burgeoning social service referral program. Elise has worked as a teaching artist with Woman Made Gallery's 20 Neighborhoods Project, offering free arts based programming to women in Bridgeport, and is extensively involved in Benton House's civic engagement campaigns as a member of the Southwest Side's Hope Response Coalition and The Greater Chicago Food Depository's Champion Advocates. In her time at Benton House, Elise works to embody the spirit of the settlement tradition and continues to cultivate and explore her passion for intentional living, community health and wellness, food justice, gender equity, and grassroots community action.
