Benton House presents... SUMMER THEATER CLUB! Join us on Tuesday, 3pm-5pm for theater games, writing workshops, improv games, and more! Ages 10-15. It's free, of course! The club runs from June 23rd to August 6th.
To mark the 160th anniversary of the Lager Beer Riot, Chicago’s first act of civil disturbance, and to celebrate the city’s growing beer culture, Pocket Guide to Hell and Marz Community Brewing Company are hosting an audience interactive dodgeball reenactment and beer tasting on Saturday, April 25, 2015 starting at 6 pm. The event is part of Version Festival 15 and is a fundraiser for Benton House, the historic nonprofit charitable center in Bridgeport

September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign mobilizing the public to take action on the issue of hunger. Benton House will be screening a documentary that "peels back the curtain on the problem of food insecurity, weaving together the stories of low-income Americans who struggle to put healthy food on the table, despite the fact that they have jobs."

A documentary celebrating the 50th anniversary of Freedom Summer, when more than 700 student volunteers from around the country joined organizers and local African Americans in a historic effort to register voters in the segregated South. We will be inviting speakers from Chicago Votes to talk about ongoing voter registration efforts in Chicago.
