MN, OH, TX Youthworks - Day 4

Salutations!  This is Natalie, Holly, and Daniel checking in from the Youthworks Benton House group. The group’s last day of work began with a stop at Dunkin’ Doughnuts, providing us with the energy for the day’s work ahead.











As soon as we arrived; Shelby, Taylor, Sarah, Alex, Logan, and Pastor Mike set to work finishing the new sign for the front of the building. Holly and I promptly found our sundial and began to brainstorm ideas for a base design. One unsuccessful trip to Ace Hardware later, we finally settled on stacking some tile brick that the Benton House already had provided.  Jenifer, Aly, Brittany, Naomi, Jacob, and Daniel were busy weeding in the newly-fenced- in garden plot.  This job was extremely crucial since an open house is taking place tomorrow, and it needs to be ready by then.

 

 

 

 

 

At lunch time, we split into two groups and went into the city to eat. Jenifer, Brittany, Shelby, Taylor, Aly, Naomi, and Sarah went downtown to get some famous Chicago deep dish pizza. The rest of us headed over to Chinatown for delicious Chinese cuisine.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When we returned from lunch, Alex and Logan began fixing holes in the wall and tearing out the gutters like beasts. Meanwhile, everyone else got back to their previous jobs.  When the food truck arrives in a few minutes, everyone will be heading down to help unload.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I am sad to see our final day coming to an end. Working at the Benton house has been an amazing opportunity.  From exercising with the seniors to building fences, this experience has been both insightful and rewarding.  Thank you to both the Benton House and Youthworks.  This is Holly, Natalie, and Daniel signing off for the Justice League.
